স্টাফ রিপোর্টার: অস্ট্রেলিয়া প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশী কবি, লেখক, সাহিত্যিক, সম্পাদক ও সাংবাদিকদের নিয়ে একটি শ ক্তিশালী প্লাটফর্ম তৈরি করার লক্ষ্যে গত ৮ই নভেম্বর (রোববার) ২০১৫ইং তারিখে রকডেলস্থ বনফুল রেস্টুরেন্ট ও ফাংশন সেন্টারে আয়োজিত মত বিনিময় সভায় “অস্ট্রেলিয়া বাংলাদেপ্রেস কাউন্সিল” নামে একটি অরাজনৈতিক সংগঠনের অন্তর্বর্তী কালীন আহবায়ক কমিটি ঘোষণা করা হয়।
সন্ধ্যা ৮টা ১৫ মিনিটে পবিত্র কোরআন তেলোয়াত ও গীতা পাঠের মধ্য দিয়ে অনুষ্ঠানের শুভ সূচনা করা হয়। পবিত্র কোরআন থেকে তেলোয়াত করেন নবধারা ডট নেটের সম্পাদক আবুল কালাম আজাদ এবং গীতা পাঠ করেন অস্ট্রেলিয়া প্রবাসী প্রখ্যাত লেখক ও কলামিস্ট ড. রতন কুন্ড। এরপর বাংলাদেশ ও অস্ট্রেলিয়ার জাতীয় সংগীত পরিবেশন করা হয়। এই পর্বের উপস্থাপনা করেন মুক্তমঞ্চের সম্পাদক আল নোমান শামীম।
মূল অনুষ্ঠান পরিচালনার জন্য সভাপতির আসন অলংকৃত করেন এসবিএস রেডিও’র বাংলা বিভাগের প্রধান আবু রেজা আরেফিন। তিনি উপস্থিত কবি, লেখক, সাহিত্যিক, সম্পাদক, সাংবাদিক ও অন্যান্য অতিথিদের ধন্যবাদ জানিয়ে অনুষ্ঠান শুরু করেন।
এরপর সভাপতি গত ২রা নভেম্বর অনুষ্ঠিত সভার সিদ্ধান্ত অনুযায়ী দেশ বিদেশ পত্রিকার সম্পাদক বদরুল আলমকে আহবায়ক এবং বিদেশবাংলা ২৪ ডট কমের সম্পাদক মোহাম্মেদ আবদুল মতিনকে সদস্য সচিব করে অস্ট্রেলিয়া বাংলাদেশ প্রেস কাউন্সিল’র ১৭ সদস্য বিশিষ্ট অন্তর্বর্তী কালীন আহবায়ক কমিটির নাম ঘোষণা করেন।
কমিটির অন্যানয সদস্যরা হলেন, বাংলা সিডনি’র সম্পাদক আনিসুর রহমান, এসবিএস রেডিওর বাংলা বিভাগের প্রধান আবু রেজা আরেফিন, সুপ্রভাত সিডনি’র সম্পাদক আবদুল্লাহ ইউসুফ শামীম, মুক্ত মঞ্চের সম্পাদক আল নোমান শামীম, বিদেশ বাংলা টেলিভিশনের প্রযোজক রহমত উল্লাহ, ভয়েস অব বাংলাদেশ রেডিওর পরিচালক ড. নার্গিস আক্তার ভানু, বেতার বাংলা রেডিও’র পরিচালক আজাদ হারুনুর রশিদ, সিডনিবাসী বাংলা ডট কমের সম্পাদক আবদুল মতিন, এনটিভি অস্ট্রেলিয়ার প্রধান নির্বাহী রাশেদ শ্রাবন, আপডেট বিডি নিউজের প্রধান সম্পাদক রেজাউল হক, এবিসি বাংলা ডট নেটের সম্পাদক নাইম আবদুল্লাহ, ইসলামী বেতার সিডনি’র পরিচালক ইঞ্জিনিয়ার আলতাফ হোসেন ও নবধারা নিউজ ডট নেটের সম্পাদক আবুল কালাম আজাদ খোকন। এ সময় অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত কবি, লেখক, সাহিত্যিক, সম্পাদক ও সাংবাদিকগণ বিপুল করতালির মাধ্যমে নতুন আহবায়ক কমিটিকে স্বাগত জানান।
এ সময় অনুষ্ঠানের সভাপতির আবু রেজা আরেফিন নব নির্বাচিত আহবায়ক বদরুল আলমকে বক্তব্যের আহ্ব্বান জানালে তিনি উপস্থিত সকলেকে শুভেচ্ছা জানান এবং অস্ট্রেলিয়া বাংলাদেশ প্রেস কাউন্সিলের ভবিষৎ পরিকল্পনা ও কার্যাবলী ব্যাখ্যা করেন।
তিনি আরও বলেন, আমাদের একটি কমিটি থাকবে, যেখানে নিজস্ব মত প্রকাশের স্বাধীনতা থাকবে। সাংবাদিকরা সমাজের বিবেক, জাতির পথ প্রদর্শক। আমরা কথা বলবো, শুনবো, ভাববো তারপর জানাবো। আমরা সবার গল্প অন্যদের বলি। আমাদের নিজেদেরও তো কিছু গল্প আছে, আছে মত বিনিময়ের অধিকার।
এছাড়াও সভায় তিনি প্রস্তাবিত অস্ট্রেলিয়া বাংলাদেশ প্রেস কাউন্সিল এর বিধি বিধান সম্বলিত ইংরেজিতে লেখা একটি হ্যান্ডআউট উপস্থাপন করেন।
Preface
In the last 25 years a substantial number of Bangladeshi migrants have made Australia home. Despite of having language and cultural barriers we have manged to establish a vibrant lively and successful community that is making their foot print in Australia’s social, political, professional and business areas.
Sprouting from the love of our ancestral home, many migrant Bangladeshis have created Print and electronic entertainment media outlets. With writers, columnists, journalists, reporters and cultural activists contributing Into them from their own accord.
Why Australia Bangladesh Press Council
Press Councils, generally act as an advisory or legislative body or both. Our organization will work as an Advisory body. You can see so many different press and media outlets that are active in our community.
But we do not have a common platform to share ideas, help each other and work together to lift the standard of news, views and content. ABPC will work to build a good image in regards to Bangladesh, Bangladeshi Migrants in Australia and most importantly, the Bangladeshi Australia press in the eyes of the world and mainstream Australia.
It will be a non-profit, voluntary organization with the following goals and resolves-
*The councils scope will extend to all Australia-Bangladesh media organizations that publish or broadcast in Australia whether they belong to the print or electronic media.
* At all times Australia Bangladesh Press Council will upheld democratic practice and values
* At all times ABPC will act nonpartisan and will honour equal rights above all influence
* ABPC will be dedicated to the protection of the freedom of the press and to the defence of the right of the public to quality reporting maintaining individual/organizational respect and privacy right.
* This organization will formulate and up held moral and ethical standard and encourage all members to respect and maintain highest possible standard in that regard.
* This organization will act as mediator to settle amicably disputes In between members or members and public.
* ABPC will support all members and associates in the areas of obtaining legal counselling, mentoring and training,
* This organization will work to improve and maintain government and corporate liaison.
A convening committee has been formed on Monday the 2nd of November 2015. This committee will be working together in the upcoming months to formulate a constitution, policies and procedures and to build and formalize an organization of structured format. Today’s meeting is part of a consultation process we plan to go through before finalizing our constitution. By analysing the structures and goals of a number of Press Councils around the world including Australia and taking our own circumstances into consideration. I would like to put forward some ideas as stepping stones to build our organization further. Again I will insist all decisions will be finalized by the Convening Committee maintaining a democratic process.
Proposed Basic Structure
Active media organizations willing to join will form “constituent bodies “of the Council These constituent bodies will maintain all the expenses of the organization. A Chairman of the council will be selected by the constituent bodies preferably to be a Full Professor who will have no affiliation with media organization or not holding any political party or religious group office bearer position.
Also this body will select a Vice Chairman, a Pro Vice Chairman, Secretary and a Joint Secretary among themselves. These four persons will carry out all operations and administrative responsibilities in running the organization under the guidance and advice of the chairman and with the consultation of the constituent bodies on a fully democratic principle
Another 2 sub-committees will be formed on broad consensus
No.1 -General Advisory body. 5- 7 members
Will comprise of Distinguished Community Members, Intellectuals, writers, Entertainment & media personnel.
No.2 Journalist Body. 5 – 7 members
Will comprise of reporters, journalists, news photographers. Again they will be selected through democratic process.
** It is to be noted here all process and decisions will have transparency and follow strict democratic norms.
এরপর শুরু হয় আলোচনা ও মত বিনিময় পর্ব। এই পর্বে সকল বক্তারা এ উদ্যোগকে স্বাগত জানান। তবে রহমত উল্লাহ, ড. নার্গিস ভানু, আনিসুর রহমান, আল নোমান শামীম ও হাসান তারিক কিছু পরামর্শ ও প্রস্তাবনা পেশ করেন।
প্রস্তবনাগুলো হলো, ১) ড. মিল্টন, আকিদুল ইসলাম, আজাদ আমল, হ্যাপি রহমান, কাজী সুলতানা সিমি, সুলতানুল আরেফিন ও হাসান তারিককে আহবায়ক কমিটিতে সংযুক্ত করণ। তবে হাসান তারিক ও কাজী সুলতানা সিমি সদস্য পদের তাদের নাম প্রত্যাহার করেন।
২) আগামী ৬ মাসের মধ্যে সাধারণ সভা আহবায়ন করে পুনাঙ্গ কমিটি পেশ, ৩) এ আহবায়ক কমিটি সংবিধান তৈরী ও অন্যান্য অনুসাংগিক কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করবে।
আলোচনা পর্বের শেষে আল নোমান শামীম ( নতুন সদস্য সহ ) পুনারায় আহবায়ক কমিটির নাম প্রস্তাব করেন। এই সময় আহবায়ক কমিটির সদস্য আনিসুর রহমান তার সদস্যপদ প্রত্যাহার করেন।
সবশেষে আহবায়ক বদরুল আলম সকলকে আবারও ধন্যবাদ জানিয়ে নৈশভোজের আহবান জানান। পুরো অনুষ্ঠানটি স্পনসর করেন বনফুল রেস্টুরেন্ট ও ফাংশন সেন্টারের পরিচালক আবদুল কাইয়ূম খান।
