With the theme #GetTheWordOut. Nobodharanews arranged the White Ribbon Night at a local function room of #Kohinoor Restaurant on 20 July 2019. The programme was presided over by NobodharaNews.net Editor-in-Chief and White Ribbon Australia and Multicultural Community Ambassador Abul Kalam Azad Khokon.

The other Guests were Ex- Mayor of Bankstown Canterbury City Council Nadiah Saleh, Former Deputy Mayor Karl Saleh, White Ribbon and Multi-Cultural Ambassador Karl Saleh, Dr Jessie Chowdhury, Past President Bangladesh Medical Society NSW, Dr Ayaz Chowdhury, President, Federation of Doctor Association of Australia, Dr Anjuman Begum, Rizwan Chowdhury as Senior Industrial Organiser, United Voice, Faizun Poly of Probashi Bangladeshi Women Association, Rupan Alam represented the next generation of Bangladeshi youth.

The speakers emphasised that violence towards women is unacceptable in the society or in any public places. Men can play a central role in curbing violence at home, work and among friends and family members. All the speakers shared how domestic violence has wrecked families and the biggest damage id done to children who at a latter stage behaves erratic and uses violence to dominate his partner.

It is high time the Bangladeshi community take note that they have to play a pioneering role and become a role model for others. Abu Reza Arefin, CEO of Jonmobhumi TV & SBS Radio Bangla shared his story of 30 years of marriage without any domestic violence.

A drama depicting how violence affects your child was staged by Faizul Azim Chancol, Abida Aswad, Farzana Mifta Farhad and Abul Kalam Azad, an art dance was presented by Aftun Nayeem Mitu, Mahadi Hasan and Fatin Bin Farhad. Faizun Poly and Muna Mostafa recited poetry about violence on women.

Media personalities Badrul Alam (Desh Bidesh), Anisur Rahman (Bangla Sydney.com), SBS Bangla Executive Producer Abu Reza Arefin, Babu Aswad (Channel i), Abul Kalam Azad, Dr Faizul Azim, Abida Aswad , Nasim Samad of Nobodharanews team, Photographer Akash Dey (ATN Bangla)were present. Local politician, community workers, representative from different socio-cultural organisation were present at the function.

The function ended with dinner and cutting of cake cleberating the White Ribbon Night. White Ribbon Australia Ambassador Abul Kalam thanked all the guests for their presence on the occasion.
